Why group work at uni is a student's absolute nightmare
Surely, the words "this is a group task" have sent shivers down your spine at some point this semester.
We say that group work is bad, but a lot of employers actually look for teamwork skills, but this doesn't mean that we enjoy being let down and getting graded on it.
The inevitable social anxiety
Me , handing in the bare minimum of my uni group work ! " uhm , I hope this is enough "

Some people don't do well in groups - especially with strangers. It's never fun to be put in a group where everyone else is already best friends.
People will annoy you
I fucking hate group work at uni... especially if it’s with people who always belittle you so you are too afraid to contribute and when they get pissy you feel bad and ask the lecturer to lower your grade because you haven’t contributed enough

You'll have one person in your group who thinks they are smarter and will try to outshine all the others. Personalities will clash, and evils will be given, and there is nothing you can do so just bite your tongue and get the work done.
People won't turn up
Hate group work at uni so much, can never rely on a single person to do what they were supposed to 😠

Back in the day we knew that it was compulsory to come to school, but uni is a different matter. We're adults and we have our own lives, things come up and students know that they can get away with skipping lectures. And more likely than not, you'll come face to face with at least one of these people during your time at university.
considering how little we’re required to be in uni, I fully don’t understand why half of my Friday class turn up late to our lectures?? especially when it’s group work and other people are relying on them, y’know, turning up?? 🤔

You all get the same mark with group work
Group work at uni is an absolute joke. Was averaging a 1st this year and just got a group assignment back and we got 62. Absolutely fuming

Your grade will depend on everyone's contributions, so if they don't turn up this will affect your overall grade. Most students hate this because they think you should work for your own grade yourself and not be let down by other people.
You can make some great friends
rmr when I panicked about group work at uni well it turns out I ended up in a really good group or every1 is more motivated at masters level

Aside from those bad points, university is a place to make friends. Often groups are picked at random so you're not guaranteed to know the people you will be working with. But this does mean that you could end up making new friends during your group work.
