Why Amsterdam should be the destination for your next city break
Amsterdam is a lot of peoples new found favourite city break and for all the right reasons.
The capital of the Netherlands has a lot to offer whatever the weather.
Cheap flights and hotels
If you look around, you'll soon realise how cheap travelling to Dam actually is. You can quite easily grab yourself a package for two with flights, hotel and breakfast for three nights for under £300! Obviously, prices will increase during the school holidays and around Christmas, but if you're flexible, you can get yourself a right bargain!
Easy to travel around
Amsterdam's public transport system is one smooth experience. You have trams, the metro and buses that run regularly to all parts of Amsterdam, so it doesn't matter if your hotel is on the outskirts, you'll spend around €20 on your travel card during your time there. The travel card can be bought at any machine near metros or trams and can be used on all modes of transport across the city.
Variety of things to do
You've got the Red Light District, canal tours, Anne Frank's house, Van Gogh's museum and plenty of things in between. From fancy shopping centres to sex museums to indie cafes and restaurants, you'll surely have no problem in filling your day with unusual but exciting activities!
Everyone speaks English
You do not have to worry about learning a new language, as almost everyone there grows up watching British TV so they all know how to speak English! Very often, the Dutch will swap from Dutch to English in a sentence, which is quite a skill to watch people have. A plus of this is that you do not have to worry about getting lost, or miscommunication while you're there!
Full of young people
Let's face it, Amsterdam is mainly targeted at young people - and that's one thing that the city isn't missing. From students to locals to visitors, the young energy beams through the city 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
