The reincarnation of dad trainers and how social media stars style the trend

In this new age in which people have become more conscious of their health and wellbeing; sportswear is now worn on an everyday basis and not just to the gym.

They say fashion gets recycled every 20 years, and this year we are seeing the return of cycling shorts and clunky dad trainers from way back in the 90s.

Find out how British fashion icons such as 6kenza, B young and David Bunmii wear chunky trainers in the 21st Century.

Social media influencer Shannon Bridget wears the Gucci Rhyton sneakers with the mouth print. These trainers are a statement piece and scream attitude with the rock-inspired illustration, chunky sole and distressed leather. The illustration has a hand-painted feel which shows how Gucci has evolved there aesthetic to be more experimental and edgy.

Kenza wears the Yeezy Boost 700 Waverunners, paired with a comfortable black tracksuit and edgy Off White side bag. Kenza always keeps it casual and classy and infuses athleisure into lots of her outfits.

3. @Charlottemilysanders

Charlotte Emily Sanders knows how to put together the perfect travel outfit. Keeping to her monochromatic Instagram aesthetic, Sanders pairs a simple white tracksuit from Missguided with matching Balenciaga trainers. Comfort is key when travelling, however, Charlotte keeps it classy with the addition of designer accessories and oversized sunglasses that liken her to Kim K.

4. @Byoung

Hackney raised singer B Young, wears the Yeezy Boost 700 Waverunners with a Balenciaga graphic tee. The Yeezy Waverunner was initially criticised upon release for its overbearing silhouette, but soon after they started a wave of hype for bulky trainers. The orange and blue details, although minuscule add dimension to the whole look, and tie in with the grey hues of B Young's t-shirt.

catch me at the edge ??

A post shared by Elyanna Banes Sanchez (@ellebaness) on

Worn by models such as Slick Woods and Elle Banes, the Buffalo classic trainers are a revival of the 90's era where they were worn by The Spice Girls. The trainers have been reinvented but still remains unconventional. Elle Banes accentuates the chunky build of the shoes by pairing them with loose silhouetted trousers that give off 90s girl band vibes.

Designer trainers are not within everyone's budget, however, Nike offers an affordable alternative with the revamped Nike Air Jordans, that now come in a range of fun colours. London based fashion influencer David Bunmi expresses his fun and playful personality in a well-coordinated blue and red outfit. The designer headband and lettered tracksuit are very significant to American fashion—Soulja Boy recently wore this Gucci headband in a video that went viral on YouTube.
