The inspirational women on Instagram that are shaping the future

With the Times Up campaign making headlines in Hollywood and the #metoo phenomenon recognising the need to speak out, solidarity between women has never been stronger.

If you’re looking to be inspired, then these women are your go-to-fix in appreciating all things female.

Emma Watson

Seen by many as the queen of feminism, not only has Emma Watson just donated $1.4 million to the Justice and Equality Fund but in 2014 she was appointed as a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador. Helping to launch the HeForShe equality campaign, Miss Watson is a shining example of how the future is definitely female.

Lena Dunham

pray with your feet, march for the truth ??

A post shared by Lena Dunham (@lenadunham) on

Writer and star of Girls, Lena Dunham is known for her fearless honesty and inspiring Instagram account that reaffirms that women should be unapologetically who they are. This no-nonsense approach is one of the many reasons she has 3.1 million followers. Wowza!

Michelle Obama

Whilst her husband was in office, Michelle was launching the national campaigns Reach Higher and Let Girls Learn which aims to provide a new higher education initiative and to address the challenges adolescent girls face to gain a high-quality education. Having appeared on the front cover of Vogue multiple times, it’s clear Michelle’s influence stretches across the globe.

Serena Williams

One of the most inspiring athletes in the world, Serena has won four Olympic gold medals, 23 Grand Slam singles titles and has set up her own foundation to help build a school in Kenya. Putting tennis on the map for young girls, Serena is an incredible inspiration to every generation!

Reese Witherspoon

Setting up her own production company and producing the breakout show Big Little Lies has been no mean feat for Reese as she encourages the introduction of ‘different, dynamic women on film.’ Witherspoon is a longtime supporter of Save the Children, and has the creativity and intuition needed to transform the film industry into equal playing field, whereby talent is merited and not based on gender.

Oprah Winfrey

I can hardly wait for y’all to see it.

A post shared by Oprah (@oprah) on

Oprah is one of the most famous faces in the world, with her television career spanning two decades! What makes Oprah so inspirational is how she uses her status as a platform to highlight poverty and important charities that need support. The Oprah Winfrey Foundation has raised millions of dollars to fund charities that hold a special place in her heart.

Jessica Chastain

If you've seen anything of Jessica Chastain, then you'll know that the actress has always been attracted to strong-willed female characters that have been written with care and attention. Having been vocal about the gender pay gap over the past few years and the way women are discriminated against in the film industry, Chastain stands firm on the need for women to support each other. We salute you!

Aly Raisman

Olympic gymnast and backflip extraordinaire, Raisman won two silver medals and a gold in the team event at the Rio Olympics. In recent times, she has hit the headlines speaking out as one of the victims sexually abused by former team physician Larry Nassar. Not only did this show huge bravery but it has helped lead the way in highlighting that women should be made to feel comfortable in speaking out and sharing their own personal experiences. Silence is not an option.
