Secret Santa like you've never seen before
Winter is here and as Christmas is approaching, everyone is getting excited about the seasonal events, rituals and the Christmas aesthetics.
As soon as Halloween is over the Christmas lights pop up, Christmas fairs start livening up the streets and amazingly cringy Christmas jumpers make their way into basically every shop.
One thing that people look forward to is the annual office secret Santa, but this workplace tradition is no longer confined to an office or just between friends and colleagues. Reddit—the social news aggregation—started their own secret Santa in 2009 where registered users could sign up and receive another random Reddit users name who has also signed up. Your secret Santa match could be from anywhere in the world. Your name would also be thrown into the mix so a random Reddit secret Santa participant will hopefully send you a gift too.
Redditgifts is a giant online gift exchange that started connecting strangers from around the world with one another with the aim to spread worldwide Christmas cheer. In 2013, over 89,000 people from over 160 countries participated and put their faith in one another and sent gifts around the world. A lot of people are either intrigued to try this out or excited to do it again.

Participation in this giant secret Santa is free, however, it is suggested that you spend around £20 on your gift and that it is a thoughtful one. Even if you choose to hand make your present, the site has discovered that the more time and effort you put into your gift, the better experience it is for everyone.
The exciting part is that you could receive anything. Some people have posted about how they ended up getting some really weird gifts. Some examples include a 10-pound cheesecake, a Bidet, The Hufflepuff Cup, the Chewbacca mask, four jars of Play-doh and 10-pounds of Swedish fish.
Some lucky people have had celebrities as their secret Santa and ended up receiving some pretty amazing gifts. One example is when a lucky Reddit user got Bill Gates as her secret Santa and he exceed every expectation with his box of gifts. The user described herself as a video game lover who loves The Legend of Zelda, Harry Potter, The Little Mermaid and Nintendo which Bill Gates took notice of. She ended up receiving a large box full of goodies including Zelda merchandise, an Xbox with Xbox games, three of his favourite movies, a cooking book amongst other thoughtful presents, along with a personalised letter and image to prove that it’s actually him, and a photoshopped photo of him with the user.
