Get your brunch-fix: the most Instagrammable cafes in Oxford
Brunches epitomise us millennials.
As a student in Oxford, the prospect of brunching can be the perfect way to dress down a manic study sesh. Lounging with a flat-white in an Instagrammable cafe, you can get on with reading in a new, relaxing location and trick yourself into believing you're having a 'break'. Heck, you might even find that you're more productive not sitting in a stuffy library watching the rest of the student population appearing more productive than you. Going for brunch shouldn't be a quick in and out job, it should be an experience. Therefore, here are the top 10 cafes in Oxford to give you a much-needed brunch-fix:

: ?@naturalbread1, 29 Little Clarendon Street, Oxford OX1 2HU ?£5.70 ?8/10 - Avocado toast with a fried egg. * ?: Smashed avocado with chopped chilli. I would have appreciated a thicker layer of avocado. * ?: Sourdough. A generous portion of delicious, homemade sourdough. * ?: A fried egg. Sadly poached eggs are not offered but the fried egg was delicious with a runny yolk. * ?: The tangy sourdough bread was definitely the highlight of this avocado toast. A more generous portion of avocado with a chunkier texture would have improved this dish but overall it was tasty and very reasonably priced. • • • • • • #foodie #infatuation #feedfeed #forkyeah #forkfeed #foodgawker #topcitybites #oxfordblogger #foodgasm #eatoxford #eattheworld #oxfordfood #igersoxford #coffeeshopcorners #Oxford #f52grams #onthetable #eeeeeats #instafoodie #devourpower #lefooding #huffposttaste #foodstagram #food52 #buzzfeast #buzzfeedfoods #naturalbreadcompany #londonbruncherinoxford
Once just a little Farmer's Market stall (oh, how very quintessentially Oxford) the Natural Bread Co. has developed sizably in recent years, with three branches throughout Oxford: in Eynsham, Woodstock and Little Clarendon Street. Two pals who were just passionate about baking bread began their little venture and due to the delicious breads and pastries on offer and the extremely visually pleasing coffee, Natural Bread Co. has expanded and become a firm favourite of the Oxford population. Always ridiculously busy, this luckily isn't something to deter you, as the baristas beautifully execute coffee art in an instant. You can sit at one of the adorable wooden tables and get some work done in the bustling yet relaxing atmosphere- and even post an Instagram to please your followers.
Formerly known as Zappi's—a firm favourite in Oxford—this brunch spot reopened as The Handlebar, last year. At the time, the people of Oxford were extremely sceptical of the rebranding, because why would Zappi's need to close if it was the best around? However, The Handlebar has won the hearts of the people. Now three times as large as the former Zappi's, with unique artwork (good for Insta) and beautiful views out to the Oxford skyline (even better for Insta) The Handlebar ticks all the right boxes. And we haven't even started on the food. A firm favourite is the 'berry and banana pancakes', which screams millennial, we know. Make sure to Insta before you eat- remember that your phone camera should always be the first to eat.
Now, as students, I'm sure we're all partial to a discount, or two. And with Barefoot Cafe, the Unidays of cake discounts has arrived! You're able to pick up a loyalty card for free from the cafe, and you earn points every time you go, meaning that you're able to save for FREE CAKES. We must add, these are no normal cakes, either. Gone are boring Victoria sponges or the same old brownie in Barefoot. With very millennial combinations, there are cakes such as peanut butter and banana cake, vegan chocolate cake with avocado icing (I know, I'm slightly confused too) and lime cake. Now, that's a treat for the taste-buds.
Famous Oxford-wide, Combibos Cafe doesn't need much explaining. Covering all your brunching needs, with French toast, a variety of pancakes (blueberry, chocolate and crispy bacon to name a few) and providing both a full English and veggie breakfast to boot, the portions are extremely hearty. You can fill your heart with joy and inspiration whilst brunching by reading the framed, wise words that decorate the walls of the cafe.
