Everything you need to know before Avengers: Endgame is released
The culmination of Marvel's Avengers has finally arrived and with a matter of weeks to go fans are eager for the conclusion of the MCU.
The Marvel franchise has grossed over £15 billion from its 21 films since 2007 and has become the most successful film franchise of all time. The series of films are renowned for their dedicated fan base who await each film with bated breath. However, the anticipation and excitement for Endgame is perhaps the greatest for any film so far with the stakes higher than ever before. Here is a rundown of what we know so far and everything you need to know before the film's release.
Warning spoilers for Infinity War ahead.
When is the film going to be released?
Marvel's Avengers: Endgame is set to hit cinemas on April 26th with tickets available to pre-order soon.
Who is still alive after Infinity War?
The end of Infinity War marked the most dramatic and shocking ending to any Marvel film so far with over 16 characters wiped from the MCU. Although the ending of Infinity War was taken from the comics, some people doubted Marvel's nerve in delivering such a brutal ending. This, of course, was not the case and was overall appreciated by the Marvel fanbase as closely accurate to the comics.
If you need a catch up on who is still with us, here's little a reminder.
- Iron Man, Nebula, Thor, Captain America, Ant-man, Bruce Banner, Black Widow, Hawkeye, War-Machine, Okoye, M'Baku, Rocket Raccoon and Captain Marvel
Killed or wiped out by Thanos:
- Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, Wasp, Bucky Barnes, Heimdall, Mantis, Drax, Loki, Gamora, Star-Lord, Vision and Nick Fury
Although little is known of the main plot of the film, the latest trailer depicts the remaining heroes in their most desperate situation yet. It's clear they only have one shot and the chance of success is slim. Fans have scanned the trailers for potential new characters getting involved for the final stance against Thanos, as well as discussions of potential endings in full swing.
Perhaps the most anticipated character for Endgame is Captain Marvel. Having recently entered the MCU with her own independent film as well as her backstory in the comics as the solution to the fall of Thanos, it will certainly be exciting to see her role in Endgame.
The length of Endgame was recently released as three hours and two minutes.
Although a film of this length is sometimes considered too long, Marvel fans seem happy and celebrated the release of the film's long runtime.
If you think I will waste 3 hours and 2 minutes of my life watching Avengers: Endgame, then you are absolutely correct

Now we wait...
With only three weeks to go until the release of the film, excitement is building for the conclusion of Marvel's Cinematic Universe. There are a few scheduled releases for after Endgame, such as the next Spider-Man film starring Tom Holland for his second independent super-hero film. But as for the conclusion of the main Avengers plot, Endgame will be the finale as well as a goodbye to a number of actors whose contracts have ended with Marvel.
All we can do now is wait and hope Avengers: Endgame lives up to the rest of the films and provides a fitting conclusion to this epic set of films.
