7 Birmingham restaurants that are perfect for date nights

We’ve all been there, asking our partner where they want to go for dinner and them saying ‘I don’t mind’ as if that makes things any easier. Date nights are meant to be stress-free!

For the nights when neither of you can decide on what to have for dinner, this is the perfect list of student-friendly places that are amazing for date night. So, for whatever mood you’re in, one of these places will suit it! Grab your partner and make a booking ASAP.

1. Bistrot Pierre

If you’re looking for somewhere a little fancier, maybe for a special occasion, but still reasonably priced and in a great location, Bistrot Pierre is your answer. Located on Gas Street with views of the canal, it’s the perfect romantic setting. They regularly do deals, and currently, for dinner, you can get two courses for £15.95, including steak as an option. They also offer cocktails and a whole range of different wines, so also great if you’re just looking to go for a drink. A little taste of France on a student budget.

2. Holy Moly

It’s so good we have a whole article about it here. They offer six different kinds of Mac n’ Cheese, including a spicy one with Cajun chicken and bacon and a pesto one with avocado! Holy Moly is located in Grand Central, so it has a super convenient location too. Prices for mains start from £7 so it won’t break the bank, they offer sides and vegan options too. This is the perfect place to take your date if they need cheering up—Mac n’ Cheese is the ultimate comfort food.

Pho is also located in Grand Central, on the balcony overlooking the station so it’s a perfect spot for people watching. They offer both sit in and takeaway dining, and a huge menu with plenty of options. Their noodle soups are perfect for this time of year and offer every kind of topping imaginable. Pho’s portions are massive, and their most expensive main is £11.50, but you definitely get your money’s worth. This is the perfect place to try if you’re feeling adventurous.

4. Handmade Burger Co

With two locations, in Brindleyplace and outside the Bullring, Handmade Burger Co is popular for all the right reasons. They do a range of burgers including veggie, chicken, stuffed, lamb and of course classic beef burgers, with any toppings desirable. There is normally an offer on for two burgers for £12 which is perfect for couples. Handmade Burger Co also does a wide range of sides and milkshakes so they’re perfect to sort out any craving. Burgers are also a safe choice for food too, especially for a first date, who doesn’t like a burger?

5. The Stable

The Stable is the perfect place for all things pizza, but they also offer a variety of pies and have over 80 different ciders. They are located close to New Street Station on John Bright Street. They have a range of offers with a £7 lunch menu and Tuck-in-Tuesdays where you can get a pizza, side salad and a drink for £10. The Stable offer 15 different pizzas, including vegan options and have starters, sharers, and desserts—the options are limitless. This is the perfect place for a mid-week date night.

6. Digbeth Dining Club

Digbeth Dining Club happens every Friday and Saturday night in Digbeth and is street food heaven. They offer pretty much every type of food you can imagine from all their different street vendors, and prices aren’t too expensive. It’s the perfect date setting, with indoor and outdoor seating, a good atmosphere and lots of fairy lights, it’s a really great place to try. There’s also a bar if you’re looking to get drinks along with a cocktail bar next door. This is a great option if you both can’t agree on what food to get.

7. Pieminister

Pieminister is located on Waterloo Street, close to New Street Station. They serve a complete range of pies, including veggie, gluten-free and vegan options and lots of sides including classic gravy and mash. Finish off with a soft serve sundae for dessert, or stay for a cocktail or two, Pieminister has you covered. With winter on its way, a pie could be the perfect winter warmer, and definitely something a little different. Pies start from £7.50, so not too much money for a guaranteed full stomach.

Hopefully, these suggestions have sorted out your date night dilemma and you can enjoy them stress-free again, without breaking the bank.
