5 date night ideas for when you're totally broke
Having a student budget can be hard when you want to go on a fancy date with your partner, or even impress your new date.
However, I'm here to give you some tips and tricks ways to impress your loved one on a student-friendly budget. Or if you're single, why not go with a friend or take yourself on a date?
1. Make a blanket fort
Even though I haven't done this since I was a child, this looks incredibly fun and is a great way to save money. Not only do you get the fun task of putting it together with your loved one, but you also get the satisfaction of making it cosy and relaxing in it once the hard work is over. This can be a romantic way to bond with your partner, where you can watch films and cuddle up.
2. Go to a free museum
If you're a University of Nottingham student then you probably already know about Wollaton Hall and Deer Park. The hall itself, famous for its role as Wayne Manor, is actually a free museum where you can see stuffed animals and go on an educational tour of the historic house. Sometimes these grounds host budget-friendly events too, my personal favourite being a dinosaur exhibit, and the walk around the lake is beautiful. However, if you want to splash the cash a little further on transport, the free museums and art galleries in London are great—the Natural History Museum is my favourite museum EVER for satisfying my dinosaur obsession.
3. Put together a picnic

Make some sandwiches and bring the snacks; with summer just around the corner, this is a brilliant date idea. Why not take a book to read or colour, listen to music or people watch. This can be a relaxing and fun way to get to know your date or bond with your partner. Appreciate nature and go for a walk after, just don't forget the sunscreen.
4. Have a movie marathon or binge watch a show
This is a cheap and easy way to have fun in the privacy of your own home. Grab some pillows, a blanket, a bowl of popcorn and relax. Choose a new show to binge watch together that will give you something new to discuss. My personal favourite on Netflix right now is Big Mouth, maybe you'll get some date ideas from that show as well.
5. Make a romantic dinner at home

#lesvignerons #maceratocataratto #casavinicolaferracane #redwine #whitewine #orangewine #naturalfermented #naturalwine #naturvin #vinnaturel #vinnatur #naturalyeast #unfiltered #unpasteurized #coldpressed #organic #naturligt #ekologiskt #hälsaföreallt #jessicamihai #strictlynatural #wineoftheday #notoxicadditives #nochemicals #natural_wine_naturvin @natural_wine_naturvin
You don't always have to go above and beyond to have a great time together, having a date night at home can be just as nice. You can light some candles, buy a bottle of wine or you could even get dressed up in your own home. You can still make an effort without your bank account taking a hit, and if the weather's nice, you can even take your meal outside.
Romance doesn't have to be expensive. Whether you're in a long term relationship or just dipping your toes in the dating pool, these date ideas are easy on your wallet and are bound to impress your date.
