5 budget-friendly travel destinations for students

Many students travel to experience the many wonders of the world before entering the job market.

For many, this is the perfect time to explore. Money isn't always free flowing when you're on a student budget, so holidays have to be budget friendly and not too extravagant, but this doesn't mean that you have to miss out on holidays. Check out these popular holiday destinations and get inspired.

1. Amsterdam

Amsterdam is the most popular destination for students. With cheap travel and accommodation, it's a perfect city-break for those on a budget, but if you can afford to, there are options to splash out when you arrive. Explore the cafes and coffee shops, go for a boat ride on the canals or even visit museums such as the Van Gogh museum or Anne Frank's House—the latter being a must see in my opinion. Amsterdam is perfect to visit no matter what the weather, whether you want a warm weekend away or a festive break

2. Iceland

With lots of inexpensive excursions on offer—such as going for a quick dip in the Blue Lagoon or seeing the spectacular and unforgettable views of the Northern Lights—Iceland is perfect for the those who love to look at nature's wonders. While this isn't the warmest of destinations, it's definitely worth a visit.

3. Prague

Prague is a popular city break amongst students—well renowned for its rich history and perfect for those who love to explore. There is plenty to do in Prague; you can visit the National Museum and Prague Castle in the city centre. The nightlife is also a popular student attraction, and with cheap flights from London, a trip to Prague won't break the bank.

4. Croatia

With flights from London starting at £26, this gorgeous country is perfect for students who want an inexpensive getaway destination involving the sun. Having travelled to both Split and Dubrovnik, I can definitely promise that this it's not a place to leave off your bucket list; with street performances, plenty of small cafes and independent commercial markets to relax in, you're bound to be kept on your feet. The country is the perfect place to travel if you wanted to be surrounded by history and culture. Croatia is well loved by Game of Thrones fanatics, as you can go on a TV show tour where you can wander around where the show is filmed in Split and Dubrovnik.

5. Copenhagen

The Little Mermaid statue in Copenhagen is a popular tourist must-see. The city is well renowned for it's bright and colourful buildings, this destination is perfect for those wanting to explore the stunning views of renaissance period castles and beautiful gardens.

These destinations are a big hit amongst students and should give you some inspiration for a trip this summer.
